Oye Hoye! 🌶️🔥 My Dadi’s Secret Chicken Karahi Recipe That’ll Make You Say ‘Wah!’ 🇵🇰

Assalam-o-Alaikum, food lovers! Yaar, if there’s one thing we Pakistanis do BEST, it’s our food. Forget everything else for a minute, okay? 😉 Today, I’m sharing a recipe so good, it’s been passed down in my family for generations. We’re talking about my Dadi’s (grandmother’s) *Chicken Karahi*. This isn’t just any karahi; this is the karahi that makes aunties fight for the last piece at weddings. 🤣

**What You’ll Need (Ingredient Time!):**

* 1 kg Chicken (cut into medium pieces, *murghi tayyar hai!*)
* 2 Large Onions (finely chopped, *pyaz must hai!*)
* 4-5 Tomatoes (pureed, *tamatar bilkul zaroori!*)
* 2 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste (fresh is best, *adrak lehsan!*)
* 2-3 Green Chilies (chopped, adjust to your spice level, *mirchein shamil!*)
* 1 tbsp Red Chili Powder (lal mirch! 🔥)
* 1 tsp Turmeric Powder (haldi, for that golden glow ✨)
* 1 tsp Coriander Powder (dhaniya powder, aroma time!)
* 1/2 tsp Cumin Powder (zeera powder, can’t skip this!)
* 1/2 tsp Garam Masala (the secret ingredient! Shhh… 🤫)
* 1/4 cup Cooking Oil (or Ghee, if you’re feeling extra desi!)
* Fresh Coriander Leaves (for garnish, *hara dhaniya*)
* Salt to taste (*namak hasb-e-zaiqa*)

**Let’s Get Cooking (The Fun Part!):**

1. Heat the oil in a karahi (or a deep pan). Add the chopped onions and fry until golden brown. *Onions frying in a karahi, golden brown*
2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until fragrant. This is where the magic starts, folks!
3. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they turn white. Remember to keep stirring, okay?
4. Now, add the tomato puree, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the tomatoes are cooked down and the oil starts to separate. *Chicken cooking in the karahi with tomatoes and spices, bubbling*
5. Add the green chilies and garam masala. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.
6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with naan, roti, or even rice! *Finished Chicken Karahi in a serving bowl, garnished with coriander and green chilies, with naan on the side*

**Pro Tips (Dadi’s Wisdom!):**

* Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Seriously, it makes a HUGE difference.
* Don’t overcook the chicken, or it’ll become dry.
* Adjust the spice level to your liking. My Dadi always says, “*Thora teekha hona chahiye!*” (It should be a little spicy!)
* Most importantly, cook with love! 😊

So there you have it! My Dadi’s secret Chicken Karahi recipe. Try it out and let me know what you think! And don’t forget to share this with your friends and family. Happy cooking! Allah Hafiz! 👋
